Best ATX I7-7700K Gaming Motherboards
For most standard sized computer builds, people usually turn to full-sized ATX motherboards. The following are all designed to fit into the best full tower computer cases and are made to take full advantage of the power of the Intel I7-7700K CPU.
Our Top Intel I7-7700K ATX Motherboards
Gigabyte Z270X-Ultra Gaming DDR4 Motherboard
- Supports 7th/6th Generation Intel Core Processors
- Intel USB3.1 Gen2 with USB Type-C
We had to have at the top the list of our Best Intel I7-7700K Motherboards as this Gaming MOBO forms part of our $2000 Ultimate Gaming PC Build called “The Beast”.
Modern gaming on PC is all about the graphical capability: beautiful visuals and high frame rate can make or break one’s immersion in any gaming universe. With the Z270X-Ultra you will be able to get the most out of your graphics, with both crossfire & SLI graphics support that helps to boost the visual and overclocking capability that maximizes a game’s FPS, giving the user a beautiful and seamless gaming experience.
To help protect your gaming rig, the motherboard comes included with intuitive fan control software that allows you to allocate your fans in a way that gives your computer the best cooling options. Should the worse happen and something on your gaming motherboard fails, the included dual-BIOS of the Z270-HD3 will help to backup all your computer settings so that you never have to worry about data loss.
While the dual-BIOS is certainly great, the interface for the BIOS can leave you scratching your head. The BIOS menus are a bit cluttered and a little less than user-friendly, which can make the BIOS hard to manage for people that may not have the best idea what exactly they are looking at.
If you are making an I7-7700K build for gaming, then motherboards don’t come much better than this one. Awesome gaming features, data protection, and hardware protection make the Z270X-Ultra from Gigabyte one of the best Intel core I7-7700K motherboards options you can find.

ASRock Z270 Killer SLI DDR4 Motherboard
If you want items of the highest quality, sometimes you have to be willing to pay a little extra for it. That is exactly what you will need to be ready for with our next MOBO, the ASRock Z270 Killer SLI.
At nearly $165 dollars prior to shipping and tax, you will have to be ready to pay for this I7-7700K motherboard. While not cheap, there is a lot that you get for the price you are paying.
This includes features for gaming that includes SLI support and overclocking abilities for many different types of RAM. If you happen to be new to the whole “computer gaming” world and don’t know how to get started, this motherboard is very user-friendly, even including preset overclocking profiles for the various types of supported RAM.
To go with the graphics support of the Killer, this MOBO also sports 7.1 Ch HD audio, giving your games top-notch sound to match the smooth graphics and frame rate. As a cherry on top of the sundae, the Killer also features onboard LED lighting, which can be customized to suit the user’s style and preference.
So you may have to pay a little bit more for the ASRock Z270 Killer SLI. So what? In our opinion, for the various user-friendly options that this MOBO places in front of you, this is an I7-7700K board that is worth every penny.
Gigabyte Z270-HD3 DDR4 ATX Motherboard
At about $40 less than our top pick in this category, this is the 2nd of the two offerings from Gigabyte for full-sized I7-7700K motherboards. The Z270-HD3 is the kind of gaming motherboard that many computer builders can find plenty to love about.
The Z270-HD3 is the sibling of the Z270X-Ultra and has some minor differences – it’s really a matter of what you’re losing by buying the HD3 vs the Z270X-Ultra.
What you’re losing vs the Z270X-Ultra :
- Doesn’t have SLI support – this isn’t that big of a deal if you’re not planning on running multiple video cards anyways
- You’re getting 2 less USB ports
- No USB type C support
- No water pump fan header
The HD3 also has the possibility of covering up the PCI express port and so if you’re planning on using the port to install a great wireless network adapter you may want to get a board with a little larger form factor like the Z270X-Ultra
In the end the HD3 is a very respectable MOBO and is very good for the price which is why it has to be included in our Best Intel I7-7700K Motherboards list.
MSI Pro Series Z270 SLI Plus DDR4 Motherboard
MSI has a history of making great, gaming powerhouse motherboards that have a wide range of processor compatibility, including many options for those using I7-7700K CPU. One such option is from their Pro Series with the Z270 SLI Plus.
The Plus is ready to go for the even the most advanced of gaming setups, providing great overclocking support that even provides a boost to Virtual Reality games. This helps to make this one of the best motherboards that you can buy for VR gaming, providing users with a smooth experience that will make you feel like you are right in the middle of the gaming world.
All this power needs something to keep it cool, so the Plus comes equipped with six different onboard fan headers for many types of fans, including liquid coolers. To help you immerse yourself even more in your games and media, the Plus has the ability to boost audio, providing you with clear sound from every direction.
The biggest issues with the Plus comes from both a hard to use BIOS and a decently high failure rate. The BIOS can take some time to navigate and can be a bit laggy, making it a little less than user-friendly. As for the longevity of the motherboard, a pretty high number of users have had an issue with the MOBO dying within a few months of use, which can be a bit more than a minor annoyance.
This makes buying the MSI Pro Series Z270 SLI Plus a bit risky, but thankfully some of the risk is abated thanks to a great return and replacement policy. Hopefully, these issues can be something that MSI can fix with time, as the Plus is one of the best motherboards you can buy in terms of gaming performance and could make for a great I7-7700K motherboard.
Gigabyte AORUS Z270 K7 DDR4 Motherboard
The I7-7700K processors are able to take your computer to the next level, and as such have a tendency to get really warm when in use. This is why you may like to get a MOBO that has great cooling options available to you, such as the Gigabyte AORUS Z270 K7.
This motherboard has the ability to not only customize the placement of your fan headers on the board but comes equipped with intuitive controls that make it easy to manage the fans. This makes it possible to prioritize your system’s cooling where and how you need it, keeping temperatures as low as possible.
The fan controls are not the only options for optimization available to the user either. There exist a number of built in features, such as integrated LAN and “Sound Blaster” smart audio that makes using your computer, especially for gaming, an absolute joy. In addition to this, the Gigabyte AORUS has LED lighting throughout the MOBO, which can be customized to fit a color and pattern that suits your computer build.
On the negative side for the Gigabyte AORUS, the BIOS menus that you need to navigate to use many of the aforementioned features can be clunky to navigate, with mouse movement on-screen being especially unreliable. Of greater importance than this is the fact that a few users have reported that pins and other parts of the board have been bent or damaged in-box. These cases are not very frequent, however, so you shouldn’t let it influence your decision to purchase this MOBO too much.
For every other reason, the Gigabyte AORUS is a great purchase, providing cooling and customization options to users of I7-7700K Processors.

MSI Gaming Intel B250 BAZOOKA DDR4 Motherboard
- Supports 7th/6th Gen Intel Core/Pentium/Celeron processors for LGA 1151 socket
- Supports DDR4-2400 Memory
One of the main reasons people like to build using smaller parts is that they are more convenient, and nothing spells “convenient” quite like MSI Gaming Intel B250 BAZOOKA!
Everything about the BAZOOKA is made for ease of use. When installing the motherboard, various components are instantly recognized, eliminating any need for additional configuration. If you do need to configure settings, you will find that the BIOS features many easy-to-use and navigate menus, making adjusting options simple for all types of users.
The BAZOOKA is as durable as they come as well, featuring a design made of many military grade components that will help to prevent damage to the motherboard and your components. One of the durable, heavy-duty parts on this motherboard is the heat sinks, which are made to be both stable and effective as it absorbs heat from your computer.
Compared to other “gaming” Micro-ATX, the BAZOOKA actually suffers feature wise. The GPU supported by the BAZOOKA is rather limited, meaning that you will only be able to install certain brands of graphics card into your computer. In addition to this, the BAZOOKA has no ability to overclock, which means that you will be forced to play your favorite games with their native frame rate.
If you don’t mind your games taking a bit of a hit and prefer the ease of use that the MSI BAZOOKA gives you, then you will find that this motherboard more than does the job you set forth for it. The added durability and cooling functionality are a good bonus too.
GIGABYTE B250M DS3H DDR4 Motherboard
So you want to buy a Micro-ATX for your I7-7700K CPU, but you want an option that gives you the chance to try out that “Virtual Reality Gaming” that is all the rage right now. We hear you, and that is why we present you with the Gigabyte B250M-DS3H!
This MOBO is ready for the virtual world, with the B250M-DS3H being VR ready out of the box. As result, using this motherboard gives you the chance to try out devices such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift without the need of modifying your rig.
The B250M-DS3H is really lightweight at only 13.3 ounces which, while it does make it feel a bit fragile, makes it a very easy motherboard to work with. To help keep the motherboard protected, the B250M-DS3H has dual-BIOS, which will backup your data in case of data loss, and an advanced fan control program, which allows you to allocate the cooling of your system how you see fit.
The biggest hit against the B250M-DS3H is sure to give VGA port users a headache, as more often than not the VGA display just refuses to work. This can be a nuisance to those that would rather use VGA over HDMI or DVI, which can make the B250M-DS3H a hard sell to those users.
Overall, however, this is a great motherboard, if not a bit limited. If VR Gaming is what you are looking for, then you can do no wrong with the Gigabyte B250M-DS3H.
MSI B250M Pro-VD DDR4 Motherboard
MSI has quite a few tricks up its sleeves when it comes to both full-sized and Micro-ATX offerings for I7-7700K users. Of their offerings, one of their best MOBO for computer builders on a budget is the MSI B250M Pro-VD.
At a price around $65 dollars, the Pro-VD is one of the most affordable I7-7700K motherboards you can find for both full-sized and micro-ATX. Despite this low price point, the Pro-VD has many high-end features and parts, including secure and durable mounting slots for RAM, GPU, and Fans, as well as a utility that boost USB performance on all your USB-enabled devices.
To make way for these features and still keep the price low, some other areas had to suffer, such as there only being one fan header on the board, limiting the cooling functionality of the Pro-VD. The audio is also lackluster, with the audio cutting out completely in some cases when running through the MOBO.
To help with any other issue you may encounter, however, there is LED lighting on board that lights up in particular patterns to help with debugging. This makes it easy to find any problem your motherboard may have quickly so you can address it without delay.
Slightly limited, but with a great price and heavy-duty parts, the MSI B250M Pro-VD is the Micro-ATX to turn to for I7-7700K users looking to make a small and affordable custom build.
